Black Market at ReLeaf Shop

Black Market — stylized BL^CK MRKT — is one of Maryland's only Black-owned, vertically integrated cannabis companies. Founded by CEO Seth Murphy and rooted in Baltimore, the brand cultivates premium hand-trimmed indoor flower from a 22-acre campus in Caroline County on Maryland's Eastern Shore. Their flower, pre-rolls, and full-spectrum concentrates are on the ReLeaf Shop menu.

Key Highlights:

Baltimore-rooted, Maryland-grown. A genuinely local craft brand, not a multi-state operator passing through. The cultivation campus spans four buildings on 22 acres in Federalsburg.

Black-owned, vertically integrated. One of the only such operators in the Maryland market, with a 100% Black, female, and Latina C-suite per founder Seth Murphy.

Hand-trimmed indoor flower. Premium flower only — never shake, never shortcuts. Small-batch, hand-crafted approach with 8,000 square feet of active canopy.

Murphy'z Law and beyond. The brand's namesake strain pays tribute to the Murphy family legacy. Other strains build on that DNA — diesel, gas, and cherry-leaning terpene profiles.

The BL^CK MRKT story

Seth Murphy spent 35-plus years in cannabis culture before founding BL^CK MRKT. He toured the world as a professional drummer, holds a dual degree in Spanish and finance from Morehouse College, and has been involved in Maryland's cannabis industry since its inception. The brand he built reflects that range — equal parts craftsmanship, music-culture sensibility, and Baltimore identity.

The cultivation campus in Federalsburg, Maryland is the operational core. Twenty-two acres. Four buildings. Thirty thousand square feet built out of a 111,000-square-foot footprint, with 8,000 square feet of active canopy fueling the small-batch program. The rest is intentional runway — space designed for expansion and for collaboration with other like-minded brands. It's a creative campus, not just a grow facility.

"As one of Maryland's only Black-owned, vertically integrated cannabis companies, BL^CK MRKT is more than a name — it's a statement," the brand's about page reads. That positioning is backed by the operational reality: vertical integration, local ownership, and a leadership team that doesn't look like the rest of the licensed cannabis industry.

What ReLeaf Shop carries

Hand-trimmed indoor flower (Murphy'z Law is the recognized signature, often available in 3.5g pre-pack), full-spectrum concentrates, and expertly rolled pre-rolls. Strain rotation depends on the Federalsburg cultivation schedule. The flower program leans premium-tier — these are not shake-derived eighths or trim-based pre-rolls. The brand's positioning is hand-trimmed, hand-crafted, and small-batch.

Why Black Market is at ReLeaf

Local pride matters. ReLeaf Shop's brand lineup intentionally mixes national reach with Maryland-centric craft, and Black Market sits at the most local end of that spectrum. Carrying the brand means Maryland shoppers can support a Baltimore-founded, Black-owned, Maryland-grown operator without leaving the menu they already shop.
