For a first visit to ReLeaf Eldersburg, bring a valid, unexpired government photo ID and plan on cash or a debit card. The store is at 1337 Liberty Rd, Eldersburg, MD 21784, open 9 AM to 10 PM daily, with free parking. Anyone 21 or older can walk in or order ahead online for pickup.

Finding the store and parking

We're on Liberty Road (Route 26) in the 1300 block, near where Route 32 crosses. Parking in our lot is free.

Sykesville is about 7 minutes away, and Westminster and Mount Airy are each about 20, while drivers coming off I-70 should give it roughly 12 minutes up Route 32 to reach the lot. The Eldersburg store page has a map and directions.

One local quirk to know before you set your GPS: a different dispensary with a similar name, Elevated Releaf, is a few miles west on the same road. Look for the ReLeaf Shop × Rooted sign at number 1337. We wrote up how the two stores differ if you want the details.

What to bring to a dispensary in Maryland

Your ID matters most. The state requires a valid government-issued ID at the point of sale, according to the Maryland Cannabis Administration FAQ. At our counter, that means an unexpired license from any state, a passport, or a state or federal photo ID. Expired cards and temporary paper licenses won't get you in.

Visiting from out of town? The out-of-state visitor guide covers ID rules for visitors and the rest of the details worth sorting out ahead of the drive to Eldersburg.

Medical patients need a little more. Bring your current MCA patient registration and make sure your provider certification hasn't lapsed, because the state's patient guide says both have to stay current for medical purchases. Getting or renewing one is covered in the medical card guide.

Payment is cash or debit.

What happens when you walk in

Expect a short check-in at the front desk, where staff look at your ID before anything else. Then a budtender helps you shop, and the most useful thing you can say up front is that this is your first time.

They'll ask which format you're curious about, whether that's flower, pre-rolls, a vape cartridge or edibles, and they'll walk you through what the labels mean: THC percentage on flower, milligrams per piece on a gummy, and the strain or blend name printed on the package.

Budtenders can't promise how a product will make you feel, but they can explain what's in it.

Edibles are where most first-timers have questions, mostly about reading the label. Our edibles guide explains how to read the dose numbers on a package.

Placing an order online first

Skipping the browsing in person is easy. Open the Eldersburg online menu, add what you want, and place a pickup order. ID still gets checked when you arrive, but the decisions are already made by the time you walk through the door.

Ordering ahead also lets you compare prices on your couch without anyone waiting behind you. Just make sure the order is for the Eldersburg location on releaf-shop.com, since the Baltimore shop runs its own separate menu.

Purchase limits and the 12% tax

Adult-use customers can buy up to 1.5 ounces of flower, 12 grams of concentrate, or 750 mg of THC in edibles and other infused products per visit. Those numbers come from the state, not from us, and the purchase limit guide shows how a mixed basket adds up.

Sales tax on adult-use cannabis is 12%, up from 9% before July 1, 2025, according to the Comptroller of Maryland. It's added at checkout, so the shelf price isn't your final total. Patients don't pay it on medical sales. The tax explainer has worked examples.

Deals and rewards

Check the Eldersburg daily deals page before you head over, since deals change through the week and the Eldersburg rotation is set separately from the one in Baltimore.

Rewards are automatic. You're enrolled the first time you shop, and your cashier can tell you your point balance and apply rewards at checkout. Points earned here also count at our Baltimore store.

Getting it home

Keep everything sealed in its packaging for the ride home, and don't light up in the parking lot or on the Liberty Road sidewalk. Smoking cannabis is banned in public places, including parks, streets and sidewalks, and driving while impaired by cannabis carries the same penalties as drunk driving, per the state's BeCannabisSmart guide.

Use it at home, not in public.

Everything else, from possession to home growing, is in our 2026 Maryland cannabis law guide. Shopping in the city instead? Our Baltimore first-timer's guide covers the Mount Vernon store.

First visit FAQ

Can you just walk into a Maryland dispensary?

Yes. Adults 21 and up with valid identification are free to come in without an appointment or any medical paperwork. Here in Eldersburg, staff check you in at the desk up front and a member of the team walks you through the menu. Ordering online first and picking up in person is another option.

Do I need a medical card to buy at ReLeaf Eldersburg?

No. ID alone is enough for adult-use purchases. Registration matters only if you're buying on the medical side, where sales are exempt from the 12% sales tax and count against a separate 30-day allowance set by your provider, so registered patients should bring their current MCA registration along with their ID.

Does ReLeaf Eldersburg take credit cards?

Credit cards aren't on the list. The store accepts cash and debit, so plan on one of those and checkout goes quickly. Not sure whether a particular card will work? Call (410) 623-7468 before you drive over and ask the staff, who can also answer questions about stock and hours.

Can I use an expired ID or a paper temporary license?

No. Both get turned away at the door here. Bring something current instead, like a valid driver's license, a passport or another government photo card. If your license just lapsed, the passport is the easy backup, and you'll want it every time you come in, because everyone gets checked.

What should I avoid on my first dispensary visit?

Don't smoke outside the store, since Maryland bans smoking cannabis anywhere public. Have your ID in hand at check-in, keep purchases sealed for the drive, and never drive while impaired. Beyond that, ask questions freely, because budtenders expect them from first-timers.

Ready for your first trip? Browse the Eldersburg menu to plan your order, or check the store page for directions. More on the area lives in the Eldersburg dispensary guide.
